“THE BEST KEPT SECRET ON THE LAKE:” THE OAKVILLE POWER BOAT CLUB
from: Situated on Sixteen Mile Creek, 16 miles north of the Rebecca Street Bridge in Oakville, Ontario, Canada is the Oakville Power Boat Club. It is considered, by its members, “the best kept secret on the lake.” Sixteen Mile Creek, upon which the club is located, empties into this lake.The lake referred to is Lake Ontario, one of the most popular spots in Southern Ontario for boating. The lake borders the United States and touches on major cities, including Toronto, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York. From there, it is not difficult to sail on the lake and dock at and visit the Oakville Power Boat Club.
The Oakville Power Boat Club offers visitors and members a wide range of services and events. There is a gas dock, in season, and guest docking. The only limitation, beside membership - available in the categories, Honorary Life, Honorary, Active, Past Active and Associate, is boat size. The maximum power boat acceptable is 46 feet. This includes the bow, pulpit and swim platform.
Once docked, visitors and members are welcome at the patio or tent. Here, while viewing the wide expanse of the harbor and beyond to the lake, you can take full advantage of a licensed facility with indoor and outdoor patio access.
Hot an tired from the voyage? Do you need to clean up for a visit to town or to prepare for the next stage of your trip? The Oakville Power Boat Club can help. There are private showers and dressing areas for you to use to freshen up.
After doing so, why not take advantage and visit the neighboring community. Oakville Power Boat Club is located in Oakville. It is within walking distance of downtown. Wander down to check out some of the shops. If you are short of supplies, there are nearby grocery stores. You can also find restaurants providing some of the finest cuisine in the area.
If you are staying, you might also want to check out nearby communities such as Hamilton and Toronto. Each of these Canadian cities has a lot to offer visitors, including a multitude of tourist attractions.
The Oakville Power Boat Club has its own schedule of events and offers them annually. The boat launch traditionally takes place in May. In June, occurs the annual sail past, followed by a Commodores Ball in September. Between there are various events and attractions, dances included. The Club is intended, after all, to be a social group, where good friends meet and come together.
In addition to the Oakville Power Boat Club, there are three other boat clubs sharing the river. These are the Oakville Club, the Oakville Yacht Club and the Burloak Canoe Club. Three more reasons to visit the Oakville Power Boat Club.
